How it works
I want this to be the easy part.
Choosing your officiant is personal. You should like them, trust them, and feel good about having them standing beside you on your wedding day.
After that, I want to make things easy.
I’ll get to know you, ask the questions, write the ceremony, keep track of the details and make sure everyone knows what they’re doing when the day comes.
You enjoy planning the parts you want to plan. I’ve got this one.
Check your date
First things first: let’s make sure I’m available.
Send me your wedding date, location and a little bit about what you’re planning. If I’m free, we’ll find a time to talk.
Let’s talk
I want to know about the two of you and what you want from your day. And you probably want to know a little more about me and why I might be the person you want standing up there with you.
No pressure. No pitch. Just a conversation to get to know each other and see if it feels like a fit.
If you think I’m right for your day, fantastic. If I’m not your cup of tea, glass of wine, or brand of whiskey, that’s okay too.
This is your day. You should choose the person you want to be part of it.
I get to know you
If you’re local, we can meet up. Otherwise, there’s Zoom, phone, email, text, carrier pigeon. Whatever works.
We’ll spend some time together, and I’ll also talk with each of you one-on-one.
I want to hear the stories you tell together, but I also want to hear what each of you says when the other isn’t in the room. What you love about them. What makes you laugh. The little things you notice about each other. The things that make the two of you, you.
Some of those things will make it into the ceremony. Some won’t.
This is where I find the thread.
I write. We refine.
I’ll take everything I’ve learned and write your ceremony.
Along the way, I may pop back into your inbox or texts with a follow-up question because I need a detail, want to make sure I have something right, or thought of something else I want to ask.
Then you’ll get a draft. We can meet again and walk through it together, talk about what you love and change anything that doesn’t quite land. If the changes are minor, we can skip the meeting and handle them by email or text.
I’ll make the revisions and send you the final ceremony for approval. Anything we’re intentionally keeping as a surprise stays out of your copy. Everything else, you’ll know exactly what I’m planning to say.
And if you’re not happy with it, I keep working until you are.
About a week before the wedding, I’ll check back in to reconfirm the time, location, ceremony details, marriage license and anything else we need for the day.
Then you can stop thinking about it. I’ve got it from here.
The what, when, where + how
Whether I’m at your rehearsal or not, I’ll make sure you know what to expect.
Before the ceremony, I’ll talk you through how I’m going to handle things, where I’ll be, where you’ll be, what I need from you and what happens when. I’ll do the same for anyone else who has a role in your ceremony.
And during the ceremony, I can help coordinate and quietly prompt everyone along the way. When to stand. When to sit. Who has the rings. When I need the Maid of Honor or Best Man. When the wedding party should exit. What happens next.
There should be very few surprises once you’re standing up there. The good kind? Maybe.
The “Wait, what am I supposed to do right now?” kind? Probably. But I’ll cover for you.
Everybody knew where to stand. Eventually.
You get married
I’ll show up early, prepared and ready to go. I’ll have the ceremony. I’ll know the plan. I’ll make sure the people who need to know the plan know the plan.
You show up.
We get you married.
You kiss.
Everyone cheers.
Pretty good day.
I make it official
There’s one more part after everyone heads to cocktail hour. Marriage licenses, signatures and whatever else needs to happen to make the legal part official.
If your state requires witnesses, we’ll decide ahead of time who they’ll be and make sure they know the plan too. No chasing someone down at the bar because we suddenly need a signature.
Different states have different rules. I keep track of the requirements on my end and make sure you know what you need to do on yours.
You go enjoy being married. I’ll handle the paperwork.
That’s it.
No giant process. No endless meetings. No making this more complicated than it needs to be.
I’ll ask for what I need, keep things moving and take care of the details along the way. The end result should be a ceremony that makes you happy. If it doesn’t, I keep working.
I want to be the easiest decision you have to make.
